Puke stains

I must start off by telling you that everything in here is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain or any damage resulting in you trying to remove the stain(s). These are Suggestions designed to help you.

Lets talk Puke. Yeah oh goodie puke. Weather it is your child, your spouse, your best friend or your loving pet's hair ball. Puke isn't fun for any of us to deal with. But to help make life easier on your stain removing woes I offer you my suggestions. And remember to remember put gloves.

If you need to wash Puke or Urine, Cat or human or whatever, the best thing I have found to use is White vinegar. White vinegar can be used in the treatment of smells and is one of the best things for cleaning glass in your. Don't over look the uses of White Vinegar. But in the Laundry it works wonders in getting smells out of clothes. You may have to rewash the clothes up 2 or 3 times but often once is enough.

When it comes down to your war with puke, a Wet/Dry Vacuum, White Vinegar and Baking Soda are your top 3 best friends.

Hydrogen peroxide – There has been a lot of good luck out there using this to clean puke from the cotton cushions of your furniture. Be-careful though of beaching or the colors running from the dyes in your furniture. Remember to wet a cloth and dab at the stain.

baking soda- Let the mess dry until it's hard.
  • Then get out your trust Wet/Dry Vacuum and vacuum it up with the vacuum nozzle to remove as much as you possibly can of the solids. Then spray the area with water to moisten the area and sprinkle on a healthy dose of baking soda. Let this dry and then of course re-vacuum the area.

Foaming shaving cream- Yes Foaming Shaving cream. If you have white or light colored carpet, the best cleaner is Foam shaving cream.
  • Clean up first what you can of any solids with the Wet/dry Vacuum or with paper towel.
  • Then take a can shaving cream and the best idea is to let it sit and soak in on its own.
  • Grab a clean rag, get it a little damp with water and blot at the spot. Lightly work it to bring up the stain.
  • When it dries you should find there is no more stain there. Be-careful on colored carpets please, the shaving cream could leave discoloration.

For the smell factor and stain this good mixture should do the trick:
  • 1 teaspoons of anti-bacterial dish detergent
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • mix it together
  • Gently rub it on the stain, wait about 10 minutes.
  • Use white paper towel(we do not want in color transfer from dyes on the paper towel only use white) or your trusty Wet/Dry Vacuum and blot up as much wetness as possible.
  • Apply more paper towel and leave it overnight.
If the odor is still there, then use vinegar full strength and dab it on and let it dry it should take care of it.

There are some really good products out there for removing puke too. Even with human puke the best products are the pet stain ones. One that comes to mind is Nature's Miracle. Many people swear by it's usage.

There are no quick fixes when it comes to really getting in there to removing any stain. Keep in mind a job done right is a job well done. Anything else truly is not worth doing and you will regret it when the stain keeps returning or you have damaged the carpet by rubbing or scrubbing the carpet so it wears faster and it has to be replaced sooner. Using home made products to use on your carpet to gives you the control of the chemicals used and often is the better choice for the health of your family and pets.

Kool Aid and other Red Stains In Carpet

I must start off by telling you that everything in here is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain or any damage resulting in you trying to remove the stain(s). These are Suggestions designed to help you.

Kool Aid & Other Red stains in Carpet: It is not always easy or even possible to remove these types of stains. Red Dyes from foods hang in there and sometimes keep coming back. All red dyes are hard to get out. The red coloring used in pop, candy and other foods won't generally flush out with just water. Keep remembering the best secret in stain removing, the shop vac or Wet/Dry Vacuum. A Wet/Dry Vacuum can be used to suck up a lot of the moisture and help prevent the stain from enlarging as the liquids spread out throw the carpet fibers. Even once you are flushing out the remaining liquids from your cleaning job a Wet/Dry Vacuum is ideal. Don't have one? Well you can get cheap ones from most home improvement stores and large retail stores.
  • First you will need about some dish washing soap. Put about 5 drops into 2 cups of warm water.
  • Wet a white cotton cloth with this mixture
  • Lay the moistened cloth over the stain area.
  • Place a clothes iron on it, MAKE SURE IT IS SET ON LOW. To high and you run the risk of melting your carpet fibers. Man made fibers will often melt under heat from a cloth iron so please take great care.
  • Leave this for upwards of 15 minutes. Do not press down on the iron. Heat pressure means? Melting or burning the carpet.
  • What we are trying to do is wick the stain up the fibers of the carpet. Helping it draw out of the fibers from the carpet to the cloth you are using under the iron.
  • you should see red on the cloth.
  • Fold the cloth or use a clean one and
  • Repeat this process.
Some Carpet Stains Require a lot of patience to say the least. Patience without a doubt is required when we face Red Stains to get it out of the carpet. But even year old Kool Aid Stains can be lifted using this method. Just keep repeating the process again and again til you no longer see transfer to the white cloth from the carpet stain.

Remember: Clean white clothes, low heat on the iron and do not press on the iron or rub at the stain. Broken fibers in the carpet are more places for the stain to hide in and grab hold of your carpet. Let the color wick into the cloth at it's on rate. Then rinse the area with cold water to make sure all soaps are out. Using a Wet/Dry Vacuum can help speed up removing the liquids but you can blot the area. If you have a household fan to help aid in the drying of the Carpet this is ideal.

If the stain is not gone, at the very least you have reduced it's color and how noticeable it is.

You may wish to repeat the treatment described above but once done remember you want to dry it as quickly as possible because you do not want if it is there the stain that maybe deep down from wicking up to the surfaces. Think Candle wick here. The stain comes back by using the fibers like a candle wick, when you were treating the stain you should have seen the wicking occur. When treating the stain we wanted this to happen but once we have felt that we have done enough, the effect of wicking is no longer desirable.

Tomato Juice stains

I must start off by telling you that everything in here is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain or any damage resulting in you trying to remove the stain(s). These are Suggestions designed to help you.

Tomato Juice: This can be one of the toughest stains to remove. once the juice gets on the carpet, the red natural dyes begin to work into the fibers. White or light colored carpet may never quite be the same. Use what I offer here as fast as possible on the areas. There is no wasting time here. Speed is very thing. You do not want the orange stain to set.

  • Grab clean White paper towel or clean white cloth and cover the area with it. Or use the Wet/Dry Vacuum. I believe it the better choice as it removes the liquid from the air and helps pull it out.
  • Allow all excess tomato juice to absorb into the cloth or paper towel
  • Remove the paper towel or cloth when all the excess tomato juice has been absorbed.
  • Fill a spray bottle with 1 cup lukewarm water and about 1/4 teaspoon of clear liquid detergent. We want to use clear so we do not add any more dyes to the area.
  • Shake the bottle up
  • Moisten a nice clean sponge with the mixture.
  • Spray the Tomato juice spill area with the mixture also until it is adequately wet.
  • Sponge as much of the stain away as you can.
  • Use a light, quick strokes on the area and start from the furthermost point of the area and work in ward on the stain area. Doing this of course helps keep the stain localized and not spreading it out ward.
  • Blotting as you go with clean paper towel or cloth or the Wet/Dry Vacuum.

Helpfully you have a common laundry stain-fighting agent in the home.
  • Apply this to the area
  • After applying this to the stain area, let it soak into the carpet for about 5 minutes
  • Wet the area with your water and detergent mixture.
  • And repeat this step Moisten a nice clean sponge with the mixture.

Using a clean sponge:
  • Sponge and using cold water, sponge the carpet again until all the detergents and stain fighting agent has been removed from the area.
  • Get the area as dry as possible by blotting or using the Wet/Dry Vacuum.
  • Cover the newly-clean area with two or 3 white paper towels,(so we have no color transfer use only white paper towels).
  • Place a trash can or other heavy item over the covered stain.
  • Allow the paper towels to absorb excess moisture overnight.
You may wish to repeat the treatment described above but once done remember you want to dry it as quickly as possible because you do not want if it is there the stain that maybe deep down from wicking up to the surfaces. Think Candle wick here. The stain comes back by using the fibers like a candle wick.

Ink Stains

I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain or any damage resulting in you trying to remove the stain(s). They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there. Because simply I have no life and because some people like to sue another for stupid reasons I have to leave you this little warning. This is a helpful hand, take it and respect that it is offered in good will and the best of luck for you. Please feel free to leave comments or ideas yourself.

Ink stains: You can remove ink stains from your carpet. The Number one Secret to doing it is rubbing alcohol. It will work better if it is 90% Isopropyl alcohol but if you only can find 70% we will just have to work a little bit more to get what we can out of the carpet. Of course the sooner you get to the stain the better. I have found hand sanitizers work well on removing ink from surfaces. Being high in the alcohol is the clue in these. But remember to use the clear ones. And always wash your hands after the use of these Alcohols. They are NOT safe to ingest and can make you and more so children very ill.
  • First of all, DO NOT pour the rubbing alcohol on to your carpet.
  • Apply the rubbing alcohol onto a white cotton cloth and dab the stain carefully so you do not spread the ink. Remember no rubbing. We do not want to damage the fibers of the carpet.
  • using the Wet/dry Vac or by blotting remove the liquid and stain out as much as possible.
  • Repeat this process until you are not getting anymore transfer to your cloth from the ink.
It may not be possible to remove the stain completely but do try some commercial products and fallow what they believe will work. In Canada there is a Product called Winning Colours. It is normally used in removing Paint from Carpet but removes all kinds of stains and Ink is one of them. (No I wasn't paid to put that tid-bit in, it is just that good of a porduct.)

Remember to rinse the area of all product. Rinse and remove the liquid as soon as possible. Weather by blotting the liquid up or using a Wet/Dry Vacuum. The great thing about the Wet/Dry Vacuum is you will do less damage to the carpet fibers and this is the bigger plus as you do not want to damage the fibers. Damaging the Fibers gives cracks and hiding places for the stain so it is harder to get out and ages your carpet faster.

Again you want to make sure the area dries quickly so we prevent any remaining Ink from wicking up the fibers to be a returning stain. If you have white paper towel to use and then a household fan to quickly dry the area.

Red Wine

I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain or any damage resulting in you trying to remove the stain(s). They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there. This is a helpful hand, take it and respect that it is offered in good will and the best of luck for you. Please feel free to leave comments or ideas yourself.

Red Wine:
  • If this is a fresh stain try to get up as much of the liquid as possible using a clean white cloth, white paper towel or our trusty Wet/Dry Vac

Even when the stain is older and has dried

  • Open a bottle of White Wine
  • Apply the White wine to the area. This recreated the initial conditions of when it first occurred and it will make it easier to remove the stain.
  • Extract the liquids by blotting or the Wet/Dry Vac
  • Repeat by applying the White Wine to the area
  • Extract the liquids by blotting or the Wet/Dry Vac

Hopefully you have a store purchased carpet cleaning product on hand and can now use this on the area to help remove the stain to help get more up. Fallow there instructions.

  • Rinse the area using cold water to make sure you get the remaining liquids up.
  • Dry as quickly as possible.

Remember you want to dry it as quickly as possible because you do not want if it is there the stain that maybe deep down from wicking up to the surfaces. Think Candle wick here. The stain comes back by using the fibers like a candle wick.

Tea stains

Tea stains: First off get as much of the liquid up as possible by blotting the area or getting out that trusty Wet/Dry Vac. Remember not to rub the area so you do not spread out the stain or break the fibers in the carpet to give the stain places to hide. Blot of course with a clean white cloth or clean WHITE paper towel. Using colored paper towel you may get color transfer to the carpet and we don't want to do this of course.

Once you have as much up as possible:
  • Mix a half cup of white vinegar with a 1 cup of warm water.
  • Apply this to the tea stain area using a spray bottle, if you don't have a spray bottle you can carefully pour the mixture onto the stain.
  • Blot up or Wet/Dry Vac the mixture up. When blotting make sure you are using a clean cloth as we do not want to re-transfer the stain back to the carpet.
If this fails:
  • Make a solution of 1 teaspoon dish detergent (clear detergent, only we don't want to introduce any dyes to the carpet) to 1 cup of warm water
  • Apply this to the tea stain area carefully pour the mixture onto the stain.
  • Blot up or Wet/Dry Vac the mixture up. When blotting make sure you are using a clean cloth as we do not want to re-transfer the stain back to the carpet.
  • Rinse and repeat as needed.
  • Rinse the carpet by spraying or gently pouring clean cold water on to the area.
  • Blot up or Wet/Dry Vac the liquid up. You want to remove as much of the soap mixture as possible.
  • Leave for 1 hour
If the stain remains we still have another idea:
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of peroxide in 1 cup of warm water.
  • Spray or pour gently to the area.
  • Blot up or Wet/Dry Vac the liquid up.
  • Get as much moisture out of the carpet as possible.
Remember you want to dry it as quickly as possible because you do not want if it is there the stain that maybe deep down from wicking up to the surfaces. Think Candle wick here. The stain comes back by using the fibers like a candle wick.

Dye Stains

Dye Stains: Dyes from medications, foods, cosmetics, crayons and many other household products can each react differently with your carpet. If the stain is permanent it may yet still be possible to spot-dye the rug. Or call in the Carpet Cleaners first, see if they can remove it and some of these Carpet Cleaners will have the ability to so dye the carpet.

General Liquids:
  • Blot or Wet/Dry Vac up liquids as soon as possible. Do NOT rub them in to the carpet! This will make the problem area bigger. Use only a clean white cotton cloth or plain white paper towels. Plain white because we do not want color transfer from the paper towel to the carpet.
  • Once this is done rinse the are with cold water and blot or Wet/dry vac up the liquid again.
  • keep repeating as necessary to remove more of the stain. Remember not to rub as we do not want to increase the area of the stain and damage the fibers of the carpet. Breakage in the fibers mean places for the stain to hide and rubbing the the stained area may set the stain permanently into the fibers.
Peanut Butter , Semi solids and Puddings:
  • Scrape up as much of the solids by gently lifting it up using a spoon.
  • Once this is done rinse the are with cold water and blot or Wet/dry vac up the liquid again.
  • Keep doing this til you see no more transfer to a clean paper towel or cloth.
Dried solids:
  • Wet/Dry Vac or Vacuum the solids up.
  • Once this is done rinse the are with cold water and blot or Wet/dry vac up the liquid again.
  • Keep doing this til you see no more transfer to a clean paper towel or cloth.
Helpful hints: When the stain just has not lifted out remember when using cleaning solvents, apply it to the cloth first. Then work it in from the outside of the stain to the center of the stain. We want to make the stain smaller so we don't want to spread it out word.
  • Apply the cleaner
  • Extract by blotting or Wet/Dry Vac
  • Rinse
  • Extract again
  • and keep repeating until you no longer get any transfer onto a cloth or paper towel from the stain
Yes it can take time and none of us like to take this much time up. But you will be happier with the result if you do. Remember you want to extract the solvents you used too. Dry the carpet as quickly as possible. You want to dry it as quickly as possible because you do not want if it is there the stain that maybe deep down from wicking up to the surfaces. Think Candle wick here. The stain comes back by using the fibers like a candle wick.

If the stain you are trying to remove is permanent, it may be possible for hide the stain by spot-dyeing or by calling in the Professional Carpet Cleaner. Even if you with to Spot-dye call in the Pros.

Fingernail Polish:
  • Apply a non-acetate fingernail polish remover to a white cotton cloth
  • Dab the area. DO NOT rub as we do not want to make the area larger.
  • Work from the outside of the stain and work toward the center of the stain
  • Leave the non-acetate to work it for a few minutes.
  • Now Blot
  • rinse the area with cold water
  • blot again
  • and repeat as needed.

Chewing Gum and Coffee

Chewing Gum: Some common carpet stain removers will work really well at removing chewing gum. Goo Gone works particularly well at removal of chewing gum. Be warned however that Goo Gone is poisonous and there is a hint of color to it and could dye the carpet. Winning Colours is another good choice.
  • Apply the Goo Gone or Winning Colours (or your product) using a old toothbrush or the cap of the bottle.
  • Work it in to the gummy area to breakup the chewing gum.
  • Pick out the pieces as you can of the chewing gum so you are getting rid of it as soon as possible and not reworking the chewing gum back into the carpet. Patience is a must.
  • Repeat this as many times as you have to.
  • If you are using a poisonous product you should flush the area with water after wards. This is very important is small children or pets in the home. Remember the best way is using a Wet/Dry Shop vac to use to remove water as you go. Or you are left with blotting up the water. Remember NOT to rub. Rub or scrubbing damages the fibers. Damaged Fibers needs what again? That the fibers have cracks, folds to hold stains.
If this fails to get the chewing gum out, call in the Pros. Often a Carpet Cleaner with a truck-mounted hot water extraction unit ( a steam cleaner) can get it out easily. Or Last resort???? Replace the carpet sadly. Or just the effected area of the carpet with patch work.

Coffee: You can try using WHITE vinegar.
  • Heat the area with a hot, wet cloth and dab with the vinegar.
  • Rinse the area and extract as much water as possible. Best thing to use of course is the Wet/Dry Vac or blotting the area with dry towels. Remember do not rub the area as we do not want to damage the fibers of the carpet. Breaks in the fibers are places for stains and dirt to hide.
  • Repeat this step as often as you see transfer on to a white cloth or paper towel of the coffee.
  • You can then use a coffee stain removers these are sold at most large stores, sorry I am going to avoid naming any here. But if you are a big coffee drinker you should have some on hand already for these moments and most large get near very thing stores have these types of products.

Candle Wax

I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain. They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there. Because simply I have no life.

Candle Wax: Yes, you can get out Candle Wax out of the carpet. Not going to try and sugar coat this as it is not always easy. But patience is the key of course. The dyes in the candle wax? That is another matter all together. The dyes in the wax very in make-up. Such as even the oils used to scent the candle wax. So be for warned that you may get the candle wax out, but there was heat to cook the dye into the fibers of the carpet and of course other factors to the dye in the Candle wax. And we may also have to have to use heat to get the candle wax out.
  • To begin scape as much of the wax up out of the spatter of candle wax as you can, say with a spoon.
  • Take an ice cube(s) to the area to freeze the candle wax. This should harden the candle wax even more to make it easier to break up and get more of the Candle wax up.
  • To get the rest of the candle wax out of the carpet, put down a clean brown paper bag over the spot. Place a clothes Iron that is set on low, on it. Remember LOW. Man made fibers will often MELT from the heat. This could make it worse. The candle wax should liquefy and transfer to the brown paper bag. You may have to keep repeating this step numerous times. Remember each time using a fresh paper bag because you do not want to transfer the candle wax now on the paper bag back to the carpet.
  • If this cannot be done or you still have some candle wax that just doesn't want to come out, you can try rubbing alcohol. This may help with some of the staining from the dyes in the candle wax too. use a white cloth or PLAIN white paper towel ( so there is not dye transfer from the paper towel) with the rubbing alcohol of it and blot the area. Repeat this with a fresh area of the towel or new paper towel unit you get no more transfer of the candle wax or dye from it to the towel.
  • Once this is done and you believe you have done what you can , rinse the area of the carpet with clean cool water and blot the excess liquid up to dry the area quickly.

Lets Talk Urine and Cat Urine

I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain. They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there. Because simply I have no life.

If you are a parent or about to be one, Trust me get the WET/DRY Vac. You know them. Shop Vacuums. They are a life savor for spills of all kinds.

Urine Stain Out of Carpet: To get urine stains out of carpet, get out that Wet/Dry Vac if you have one the key here is to act quickly. Suck up as much of the moisture as possible. Then blot the area (not rubbing) with paper towels. Or Blot the area with the paper towels if you don't have the Wet/Dry Vac. I have a few suggesting mixes for you and plans so get to know these ones. Weather you have kids or pets or well a drunk spouse who pees in the corner at night you need these ideas. Good luck!
  • Making a solution of 1/4 teaspoon of liquid dish washing detergent in one cup of warm water. Please do not use laundry detergent, automatic dish washer detergent or any dish soap with lanolin, heavy dyes or bleach in it ( we don't want you to stain or bleach the carpet).
  • Spray or spread the mixture over the area that is affected.
  • For best results extract the moisture using a Wet/Dry Vac, or by blotting using plain white paper towels ( plain white so there is no dye transfer to the carpet.) or a white cotton cloth. Rinse the area with warm water and extract moisture. Repeat with solution again. Keep repeating these steps as long as there is improvement in the stain.
  • Our next solution to be applied is 2 tablespoons of ammonia in a cup of water. Rinse, extract and repeat. Blot the area and or use the Wet/Dry Vac.
  • Next we have the solution of one cup white vinegar in two cups of water.Rinse, extract and repeat. Blot the area and or use the Wet/Dry Vac.
  • Dry the carpet completely by putting a layer of white paper towels over the area and weight it down with something that will not stain if it gets wet. We do not want dye transfer to the carpet. Change the paper towel until the carpet is dry.
Urine is a hard stain sometimes to deal with. You cannot always get the urine stain out of the carpet. The smell will let you know if this is the case. Urine varies, throw out the day, the diet and age of both our pets and our selves. Cat urine with out a doubt is one of the worst for leaving a smell in your carpet. A Pet Store or your Vet may be able to help you here also with enzyme treatment that chemically breaks down the urine.

--Cat Urine Smell Removal--
Ingredients:
  • 2 tsp. of Baking Soda
  • 2 small drops of liquid dish washing soap. Remember to use ones with as little dye in it and scents.
  • 16 oz. (2 cups) of Hydrogen Peroxide. The Hydrogen Peroxide should be at least 3% strength. Most likely you will find this in a Pharmacy or where beauty products are sold in some cases.
  • Place all ingredients in a glass jar or bowl-Do not put it into an airtight container. These ingredients release Oxygen. Mean that the gases release need somewhere to go and the container could explode from the pressure or just pop the lid. It's all fun and games til someone looses an eye. So this is a warning, no closed containers.
  • This mixture is most effective and the ingredients are active within the first hour. Make sure you use the mixture within that time period. So yeah this means you really are just wasting time, money and effort if you pre-mix it up. Sorry.
Cat Urine Smell - Steps for Removal
  • Gently stir until all the Baking Soda has dissolved. do not shake or beat the mixture.
  • When the cat urine is fresh, be sure to blot up as make as possible any excess urine with paper towel (white please as we do not want color transfer from the paper towel).
  • Pour the mixture of our Cat Urine Small Remover over the urine spot, making sure to cover the entire area.
  • Allow the our Cat Urine Smell Removal mixture to completely soak the area where the cat urine is. Do not rub it in or scrub, you want it to soak in.
  • Here is the hard part-Leave it alone for 24 hrs.
  • Take clean white paper towels or a white wash cloth and blot up any remaining Cat Urine Smell Removal liquid. Remember blot do not scrub or rub.
  • Allow area to air dry completely where the cat odor was.
  • Repeat if need be. When it is really tough Cat Urine odor, numerous times. Carpet, furniture and mattresses typically need 1-2 treatments. Concrete, wood ( wood flooring this is an issue, I would ask your vet if they have anything or would a flooring expert has to say first before using ANY SOLUTION on it ), tile and the list goes on for hard surfaces often 3-5 treatments are needed. Once a day treatment til it's gone. Yes I am sorry about that very much a labor of love.
  • Once the area is dry vacuum as normal.
Concrete and generally hard surfaces, you want to make sure you make enough of the Cat Urine Smell Removal liquid to completely cover the stain. Pour the mixture over the stain and let it soak. Remember the ideal time to let it soak is 24 hrs and remember you want to get in on the stain with in the hour you mixed up the solution. Well depends on the humidity level too how long it will sit so do not get upset if in that 24hrs it has evaporated. You will most likely have to repeat this for 3-5 days before the stain, or more importantly smell is gone.

Cold hard reality maybe set in however. You can call in the Carpet Cleaning company with a truck mounted hot water extraction unit and it may get deeper and get the stain out. If this fails on your carpet and in some cases. you may need to replace the the carpet, the pad and even seal the floorboards to prevent the odor from coming back.

Pet Stains as a hole on carpet have different effects not only because of your pet but also depends greatly on the type of carpet you have. Take a Beige Carpet, blue dyes are attacked to pet urine, this can leave behind a a red and yellowish dye. The result is maybe a red, yellow or orange stain.

Not all hope is lost the color may sometimes be restored by treating the areas with the Solution of:
  • 2 tablespoons of ammonia
  • 1 cup of water
Pour onto the stain then extract as much moisture as possible, using your Wet/Dry Vac or by blotting using white paper towel or white cloth, the cloth use old ones as most likely you will just want to throw them away afterward. Reminder here do not use colored paper towels or cloth as we do not want any dye transfer. Even if this does not remove the stain it will most likely help remove the urine smell in the carpet.

In all cases, the quicker you act the and remove it, the more likely you are to get the Urine Stain out of the carpet.

Remember love you Pets, your kids and yes even your spouse.

Blood Stains

Sadly I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain. They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there.

Blood: DO NOT USE HOT OR WARM WATER! Okay with that said Blood stains on carpet will come out if you get to it right away. Quickly quickly is the key. Heat will of course only help set the stain. So I say again DO NOT USE HOT OR WARM WATER! Hot water could make the stain permanent. Cold only while we use your cleaning solution. Get out the Wet/Dry Vac.
  • Rinse the area with cold water and use the Wet/Dry Vac to suck it up at the same time to extract the blood. Use just a little cold water at a time as you do not want to increase the area of the blood stain.
  • No Wet/Dry Vac? Just add a little cold and blot the it up using a clean white cloth or white paper towels. Repeat this as many times as it takes. Remember DO NOT rub, blot.
  • Try to remove the remaining stain with a solution of a few drops of Dawn Dish washing detergent in a cup of cold water. Work this into the stain, be careful not to enlarge the stain or rub to hard that you damage the carpet fibers. Keep in mind that damaged fibers hold the stains because of the micro cracks that are created in the fibers. This is why heavy traffic areas become stained from everyday walking one it.
  • Repeat as many times as is necessary, or until there is no more transfer of the stain from the carpet to the cloth or paper towels. Blot up or Vac the excess water when you are done.
  • If you have a fan, and the area is large leave a fan to blow on the area to dry it quickly. Other wise a stack of paper towels (white so you do not get any dyes from the towels into the carpet) on the area or a few clean white cotton clothes. Put something heavy on it and leave this to blot up the remaining water. Do remember to check to see if the cloth or paper towels need replacing. Using the the towels and weight is the better choice for using a fan as the this helps to ensure you that any remaining stain deeper in the carpet does not "wick up" to the surface and you get a reappearing stain.
  • Some people have said that Club Soda can help remove blood stains, so if the above has not worked for you, give it a try. I have found, for in the Laundry that Windex is wonderful to use to pre-treat blood stains. Yes the glass cleaner. But I have not tried in on the carpets for treating blood as of yet. Keep inmind of the dyes in the products we use can stain the Carpet hense why I have not tried it on the carpet. Give also Winning Colours Product a try too.
It isn't easy to predict what stains are going to be permanent until you get down there and try to get it out. Varies different types of carpet fibers and other factors are all working against you and for you. Know your type of carpet is important. Natural Fibers are often the more difficult carpets to remove stains from. As with blood stains, start with water first before trying other solvents for removing the stain.

Bleach, Mustard and Rush

Sadly I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain. They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there.

Okay I am starting with the Three most painful ones I can think of, Bleach, Mustard and Rust.

Bleach: Bleach stains are well it's bleach, it has bleached the color out of the carpet and there is no stain to remove. That is harsh I realize but the bleached spot cannot be removed since the dye has actually been removed out of the carpet. Your best course of action here is Three possibles: 1) you find a Carpet Cleaning Company that can dye your carpet or 2) have the effected area cut out of the carpet and replaced that area. Or 3) Call in the installers and get in flooring.

Mustard: This depends on the type of mustard it is greatly. Get out the Wet/Dry Vac. Using water water I want you to try using the Vac and water to flush the mustard out. Remember this is one of the hardest strains to remove. Dab the area to help left the stain. Never ever RUB the mustard. you will just make the stain larger. Now a great product I have come across for lifting stains is Winning Colours. Most of the Time you will find this product in the Paints department of a home reno supply store.

This is there site http://www.winningbrandscorporation.com/

This stuff is for removing paint out of carpet so heads up on this stuff. It works wonders when you are detailing your car too. And again I was not paid for witing this Blog. This stuff just is that good. Oily grease stains that is the stuff to use people.

Okay back to the Mustard. This is a stain that is difficult and try to get it out but if it fails and you even try having the carpet cleaned and it remains, the only solution is to cut out the stain and replace the area with a patch. Or call in the Carpet installers and get new Carpet all together. Of course there is the option of moving around the furniture and forgetting about it.

Rust: If it is a fresh stain get out the Wet/Dry Vac and say Oxyclean premix or a number of other general Carpet cleaning products including Winning Colours. If this fails, call in the Professionals. Many Professional Carpet Cleaning companies can remove almost all rust stains but the chemicals they use to do are somewhat hazardous for casual usage. Keep this inmind though if anyone in your home can not take stronge chemicals.

If this fails, then just look at the last resort of stain removel... Removing the carpet it's self or at least the effected area of the carpet.

Good luck with these Three stains. Life happens and stains happen. A house with children, isn't a home unitl it has those stains you get to put a story to someday. Keep that inmind.

Stain removing The Biggest Secret

Sadly I must start off by telling you that everything in this Blog is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain. They work and I have tried them myself. Oh and I should add, no I was not paid for writing this blog at all. This is my free time spent on putting the word out there.

Moving on What am I talking about? The Biggest Secret? "Whatever woman you are a joke." I am sure you are thinking that. Well no. This is the Number ONE Thing you should own in your home. If you don't, well don't say you were not warned. Yes in the garage your spouse may have it for cleaning up the spills and messes out there but why don't you have one in the house for the very day spills? Caught on yet? Wet/Dry vacuum cleaner. The trusty Shop-Vac. More and more people should have these as they are what you need to get rid of Mold also but we will get into mold removal another time.

Our trusty Wet/Dry Vac can be used to quickly suck up the spills, reducing the on set of the stain and it spreading, this depends greatly on your speed at getting it out of course. But even more importantly you can repeatedly flush the area with water and suck the water out to reduce the stain before it even starts to set in. This is much more efficient than the blotting with a cloth and no as likely to damage the carpet you are trying to protect.
